A property developer has won three awards at the Malaysia Landscape Architecture Awards (MLAA12) for its design solutions that address complex environmental and social issues.

SP Setia won two Excellence Awards for its Essex Gardens of Setia Eco Templer and Setia EcoHill 2 projects, and an Honor Award for Residensi Vogue 1, KL Eco City (KLEC).

“Landscaping has always been an integral part of all SP Setia developments, as not only do we build homes, but we also strive to build places and destinations in a sustainable way where the environment and communities thrive hand in the hand.

“We are truly honored to be recognized for the three projects that we have put a lot of thought and effort into,” said SP Setia Vice President and COO Datuk Seri Koe Peng Kang.

The awards recognize the landscaping and landscape architecture work of projects that have improved the overall quality of developments with respect to environmental sensitivity, social and community needs.

The property developer’s township development in Semenyih, Setia EcoHill 2, received the Developer Category Landscape Master Plan Award of Excellence.

Measuring 0.22 km² within Setia Eco Templer in Rawang, Essex Gardens has been landscaped to preserve the existing waterways which serve as natural drainage systems and retention ponds for the entire township.

With its location next to a forest reserve, the construction of Essex Gardens also took into account the preservation of mature trees.

In addition, 380 trees were transplanted from the old golf course and houses were built around mature trees to avoid felling them.

The Setia EcoHill 2 masterplan includes over 0.32 km of green space that has been set aside to build parks in the township.

The township also owns the 68,796 m² South Creek and the award-winning 72,843 m² Adventure Park.

One of the eco-series townships of SP Setia, Setia EcoHill 2 is planned to preserve the natural mountain slopes that lead to nearby Bukit Tempurung, which offers opportunities for outdoor recreation.

Cultivating a greener environment for his community, the developer also planted over 10,000 trees.

Part of KLEC in Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur, Residensi Vogue 1 (Vogue Suites 1) is the first residential tower in Malaysia’s first green integrated development which is also transit-focused.

All buildings in the KLEC development, including Residensi Vogue 1, have received at least Gold certification from an international or local green building rating system.
