LOS ANGELES, December 7, 2021 / PRNewswire / – Studio-MLA received the 2021 National Design Award for Landscape Architecture from Cooper hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum.
The acting director of Cooper hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum, Ruki Neuhold-Ravikumar, announced the winners of the 2021 National Design Awards earlier this year. Awarded in nine award categories selected by the jury, the recipients include the West Coast-based design studio integrating landscape architecture, urban design and planning to create places that inspire people, unite communities and restore the environmental balance.
“We are touched by this honor and deeply proud of the accomplishments of our team,” said Mia lehrer, Fellow of the American Society of Landscape Architects (FASLA) and Founder and President of Studio-MLA. “We are also indebted to our people – visionary customers, nonprofit partners and design teams – for their commitment to building places that create social justice and fairness, and that tell the stories layered in places: stories of people, neighborhoods, hope and conflict, water, air, ecology and empowerment. “
Lehrer adds, “We also thank our elected officials and government leaders, as well as our stubborn environmental organizations that keep California at the center of the global resilience dialogue. “
This year, Cooper hewitt celebrates 22 years of recognizing outstanding design achievement. The National Design Awards honor innovation and impact, recognizing the power of design to change the world.
