Railyard Park awarded the Urban Design Award

Railyard Park in Waxahachie was one of this year’s Urban Design Award recipients, presented by the Greater Dallas Planning Council.

The annual award recognizes projects and individuals for excellence and leadership in urban design and planning in the Dallas area.

For many years, the GDPC has identified local leaders and organizations in the fields of planning, engineering, architecture, landscape architecture and urban design for their achievements and inspiration for them. communities in the greater Dallas area.

Railyard Park is a 1.2 acre multi-use park and amphitheater located within walking distance of the important and well-preserved downtown Waxahachie.

This new municipal park, which spurred downtown revitalization, sits at the convergence of the former Missouri-Kansas-Texas (MKT) Railway, the former Texas Electric Railway passenger intercity line in the heart of Dallas.

This setting along the scenic Waxahachie Creek Greenway draws people in for its variety of activities, including symphonies, yoga, and readings.

Trout fishing

The City of Red Oak will host its first trout fishing event for kids at 9 a.m. on January 15 at Pearson Park, 200 Lakeview Parkway.

Texas Parks and Wildlife will stock Pearson Park Pond with 2,500 trout prior to the event.

Check-in will be from 8:00 a.m. to 8:50 a.m. at the Parks and Recreation Kiosk. Children aged 4 to 16 can fish from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and mainstream fishing will take place at 11 a.m.

At 11:15 am, medals will be awarded to first, second and third place in each age category for the largest trout captured.

NARFE meeting

The National Association of Active and Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) Chapter 1191 will hold its monthly meeting from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on January 11 at the Asian King Buffet at 507 N. Highway 77, Suite 950, in the Mall Northgate Plaza. at Waxahachie.
