PROPERTY agency and multi-disciplinary consultancy Graham + Sibbald has appointed a new director and partner in its Manchester and Glasgow offices.

Carole Latham joined the architectural team as principal of Latham Davies, a RIBA-accredited architectural firm which she co-founded and managed for 15 years in Sheffield. Its design approach is rooted in building site-specific low-carbon architectural solutions.

After graduating as an architect, Carole’s career began in Glasgow, working for seven years in social housing, community projects, urban regeneration, student developments, building renovations, listed building conversions and sheltered accommodation for additional care. She led her time in Sheffield as lead architect for Velocity 1, a mixed-use high-rise development in the city centre.

Carole was also responsible for creating a duplex apartment overlooking Sheffield Cathedral and worked as a design studio tutor with the University of Sheffield’s Department of Architecture.

Graham + Sibbald said bringing its experience to the Manchester office is part of the company’s continued expansion to provide architectural services across the UK.

Carole said: “The incredible opportunity to be part of the growth of G+S Architecture was obvious. There is a wealth of expertise that we can complement with new skills. We will continue the collaboration between the different specialties which provides coordinated and well-documented solutions.

“This is a unique offering for the real estate industry and our clients – a real estate consultancy with its own in-house architecture department. Every feasibility study, bid and proposal becomes more informed, creative, marketable and deliverable with this level of experience.

“The built environment and real estate industry is at an important crossroads that requires innovative thinking – whether it’s the adaptive reuse of high street, the provision of large-scale refurbishment solutions or illustrating the tangible benefits of social value for our clients. G+S Architecture will connect the dots between policy and delivery.”

Joining Graham + Sibbald as a partner, Rachel Murray has studied both interior design and building conservation and brings to the team her experience as a client and consultant as well as her passion for architecture and design.

She said, “I am delighted to join the G+S Architectural team at this stage of department growth and changing market demands. The depth of skills, knowledge and experience within G+S Architecture is an exciting prospect and the multidisciplinary nature of our practice makes it a unique service for clients. There is a lot to look forward to.

Tom Hamilton, Director of Architectural Services at Graham + Sibbald, added: “We are delighted to welcome Carole and Rachel to these leadership positions within the architectural team. The passion, enthusiasm and commitment to high quality architectural design they both offer will continue to strengthen and grow the services we provide to our clients.

“Having worked with both before, they are customer-focused with exceptional design skills, which will support the continued development and growth of our team.”
