Crowley incorporates naval architecture subsidiary Jensen Maritime into the shipping unit


Florida-based Crowley said it has fully integrated its naval architecture subsidiary Jensen Maritime into a new engineering services group under the Crowley umbrella.

Crowley said the new group, named Crowley Engineering Services, will bring together Crowley’s diverse business portfolio and long history of marine engineering, project management and operations with industry-leading expertise in marine engineering and Seattle-based Jensen Naval Architecture.

The combination will provide Crowley’s maritime customers with a single, stronger source for customers seeking high-level design expertise, drawing on Crowley’s knowledge of vessel management and operations, including tugs, tankers such as knuckle tugs and other commercial and government vessels. ships, according to Crowley.

Crowley Holdings Inc., based in Jacksonville, is the parent company of privately held Crowley Maritime Corporation. Crowley operates four business units, each specializing in different aspects of shipping and logistics: Crowley Logistics, Crowley Shipping, Crowley Fuels and Crowley Solutions. Crowley Engineering Services will be housed within Crowley Shipping.

Crowley says that while Jensen’s employees and business relationships will operate under the Crowley name (including new contracts, communications and emails), Jensen’s name will live on through his designs and naval architecture. which will continue to be offered as part of Crowley Engineering Services. Both legacy designs and new designs will be marketed under the Crowley name while indicating “Design Powered by Jensen”.
